The Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) in South-Eastern Europe, jointly with GIZ, within the project “Strengthening regional capacities for rural development through integrated forest and water resources management in Southeast Europe (LEIWW)”, supported the organization of the regional manifestation “43rd International fair of agriculture and food processing industry – Plum Fair Gradacac”, which was organized by the Ltd “Gradacaki sajam” in the period 24 – 28 of August, 2016.
The main focus was the enhancing of the eco-production and cross-border cooperation in the field of agriculture and food industry, crafts and tourism. During the fair scientific and professional conferences and round tables were organized in cooperation with the Agricultural and Food Universities.
Stakeholder group members from the cross-border regions “Drina-Sava” and “Drina-Tara” during the fair presented traditional products, such as homemade goat cheese and brandy. They used the opportunity to promote their products, the cross-border regions and to establish contacts. Stakeholders also had the opportunity for a study visit to a distillery, where they exchange with Distillery “Monogram” example of good practices.
The International Fair is an opportunity for exchange of experience regarding agricultural production, as well as an opportunity for establishing contacts between producers/processors and potential retailers and consumers from all countries in the region. Focus was given on promotion of innovation and new technology and products.
The event was also supported and facilitated by the European Union funded project “Fostering regional cooperation and balanced territorial development of Western Balkan countries in the process towards EU integration” implemented by the SWG.
