The Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) in South-Eastern Europe within the SWG EC project: “Preparation for implementation of the Area Based Development (ABD) Approach in the Western Balkans – 2nd phase”, supported the organization of the regional event: “Vinkovo in Ilok”
Fest of St. Vincent (one of the patron saint of winemakers) – “Vinkovo” was organized by Town Ilok, with help of Tourism Board Ilok, Wine cluster Srijem and LAG Srijem. A long tradition of celebration and marking of st.”Vincent” day in Croatian most east, bordering town was held once again, lasted three days and included a variety of happenings: the traditional customs and socializing in the vineyards and wine cellars in several locations in Ilok (22.01.), Wine tastings in the vinothek of cluster Srijem, folklore evening-entertainment with tambouritza musik, only wine on offer in big common tent,, professional meeting and presentation of wine-border regions Srijem Srem (Syrmia) and as part of this promotion and SWG, traditional “Carnival riding”, offer of stands with local, indigenous products and more. Participants were wine producers, agro and local products and handmade producers, members of cluster Srijem, partners from bordering Serbian area and their wines, and others. Goal s to keep the traditional habits, promote wines and region through cross border cooperation are reached. Daily averaged events attended by about 600-800, visitors, local, regional, national from all Croatian regions and also from the border area.
