The Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) in South-Eastern Europe within the SWG EC project: “Preparation for implementation of the Area Based Development (ABD) Approach in the Western Balkans – 2nd phase”, supported the organization of the regional event: “Regional Art Colony”, which was organized in the in Sabac, Serbia.
“Regional Art Colony” is a manifestation that gathered 15 artist form the cross-border region “Drina-Sava” that worked together and promote culture and traditional values of the region. During the “Regional Art Colony” workshops on traditional culinary specialties and tourism specialties was held. Colony result with an exhibition of paintings at the end.
By participating at the Colony, artist from the region had a chance to exchange their experiences, cultural and traditional similarities and differences. Trough common work they produced new ideas on further cooperation at artistic level, as well as promote economic, cultural and touristic potentials of the region.
Participants were accommodated at rural touristic household and familiarize with local heritage and customs of the Drina-Sava region, trough culinary, hand crafts, souvenirs and traditional music. City of Sabac and their cultural landmarks and scenery of Cer mountain villages provided an excellent introduction of local community, as well as with the work of local cultural institutions, associations, School of Fine Arts and Touristic Organization of Citi of Sabac.
