The great potentials and the diversity of the cross-border regions “Drina-Sava”, “Drina-Tara”, “Prespa” and “Sharra” were promoted during the 12th International Trade Fair in Brčko from 14-17 November.
The Regional Rural Development Standing Working Group (SWG) in South-Eastern Europe supported the direct participation of more than 12 exhibitors – stakeholders (municipalities, non-governmental sector and the business community) from “Drina-Sava” and “Drina-Tara” cross-border regions. Through a variety of promotional material and direct presentation of the tradition, products and services of the exhibitors, the visitors of the fair were able to see a very diverse and interesting offer: from handmade goat milk soap from Loznica, over crocheted tablecloths, paintings and other works of art from Sremska Mitrovica and Drenovci, Ilok wine to the delicious delicacies and honey.
During the Fair, the SWG representatives participated at the round table session entitled: “The work and cooperation Tourist Boards in the region, and the application of the joint projects through EU funds”.
The SWG was awarded with a certificate for special contribution to Tourism Development.
In fact, exactly in Brčko, in March this year, Mayors of 17 Municipalities from 3 neighboring countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding and confirmed their willingness and readiness for participation in the process of mutual cooperation and joint actions for development of the “DRINA-SAVA” cross-border region. And, as a result of strong political support to the overall project idea, recently, the Government of Brčko District decided to assign a space for the functioning of the regional office for the “Drina- Sava” region in the premises of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management.
